Embarking on a work at home opportunity is a roller coaster ride because of the ups and downs you will go through.  There is no denying the fact that the potential for success is there, but it is up to you to make the best of the opportunities.  You will find that there is more freedom with working at home then any other job, which you
have to be cautious about how you use it.

It can be overwhelming to have so much freedom within your job.  It is like being a kid all over again because of your ability to do what you want.  However, just like a kid gets in trouble with the freedom given to them, you can to.  If you take advantage of the freedom given to you, you will find that it is harder to have success on the internet than people make it out to be.

The biggest problem people get into is managing their time.  There is no set schedule of when you have to work or what date specific tasks and assignments have to be completed by.  What this means to some is the ability to go at whatever pace they feel like.  What you have to realize is that the competition on the internet is so stiff that there is no room for slacking.  It is something that has to be maintained and caught up with on a daily basis.

There are a number of potential distractions when you work at home as oppose to in an office.  You have the TV calling your name, the wife asking you to run errands, and the kids wanting to play.  It is up to you to put aside the distractions and focus on the task at hand, your JOB.  Just because you are working at home, it does not mean that it is not a job.

To avoid failure because of the freedom given to you, there are a few things you can do.  First off, create an office or work environment so that it is easier to fight off the distractions.  If you have an enclosed area that you can go to focus, it will be much easier to get work done.  

Second, give yourself a schedule for when you have to work.  You still have the freedom to choose the times you work and when you get time off for vacation.  But now you have times that you can expect to work during, and you will begin to develop a pattern for working during those times.

Lastly, develop a plan and set goals for yourself and your business.  If you have a laid out plan of where you want to take your work at home opportunity, you will have guidelines of how to accomplish various tasks and when you want to accomplish them by.  Having goals will keep you motivated and determined.  Goals and plans will change over time, but having them to begin will allow you to make the most of the freedom given to you.
